Description
Old Tree Yue Guan Bai – Moonlight White Pu'erh from YunnanOld Tree Yue Guan Bai, or Moonlight White, is a rare and unique tea that doesn't fall neatly into any of the six traditional tea categories. Some consider it a white tea, while others consider it a pu-erh. Either way, it's a fascinating and delicious discovery. Yue Guan Bai, meaning "white moonlight" in Mandarin, was created by a Taiwanese tea maker in Yunnan using a blend of craft techniques. After the fresh leaves from old tea trees are picked, they're withered slowly under the moonlight — or indoors, away from the sun — until dry, unlike traditional pu-erh, which is dried in the sun. This long withering causes some natural oxidation, giving the tea a character reminiscent of black tea. Tasting Notes
Why You'll Love ItMoonlight White is a truly one-of-a-kind tea. You may even be surprised to see the liquor become darker after several infusions! Its syrupy mouthfeel and nectar-like sweetness make it a rewarding tea for slow, attentive sessions.
How to EnjoyBrew it gongfu-style in a gaiwan and enjoy many infusions, watching how the color and flavor evolve. It pairs beautifully with fruit and light pastries. Stored properly, it will continue to age gracefully. Rare, sweet and beautifully mysterious, Yue Guan Bai is a tea to savor by moonlight. |
