Description

Royal Gui Fei Oolong – Honey-Sweet Taiwanese "Concubine" Oolong

Our Royal Gui Fei Oolong is a distinctive, honey-sweet Taiwanese oolong with a truly fascinating story. During the growing season, tiny green leafhoppers are allowed to nibble the tea leaves. In response, the plant begins a natural healing process that creates sweet, honey-like compounds and starts oxidation right on the bush.

The leaves are then crafted using traditional Dong Ding processing techniques, resulting in a tea with natural sweetness and no astringency. Gui Fei, meaning "Imperial Concubine, " is named after the legendary Tang Dynasty beauty Yang Gui Fei, reflecting the tea's elegance and allure.

Tasting Notes

  • Liquor: crystal clear, honeyed amber

How to Enjoy

Brew it gongfu-style and enjoy many infusions as its honey notes deepen. It pairs beautifully with pastries, nuts and fruit, and makes a special gift for oolong lovers.

Sweet, rich and wonderfully unique, Royal Gui Fei Oolong is a honeyed treasure from Taiwan. It's a must-try for anyone who loves naturally sweet, complex teas.

I have been searching for years for anything that comes close to the Dong Ding I use to get years ago. This is hands down the best tea I've been able to find anywhere. This will be my new go to tea as I have been drinking oolong daily for roughly 30 years for the related health benefits.

This is a great tea! The aroma of the leaves reminds me of cooked apples and peaches, and it has that distinct sweet, bug bitten taste. Brewing in a gaiwan using gongfu brewing, I've gotten at least 8 flavorful infusions out of this tea!
