2016 Shou Mei Aged White – Hand-Rolled Aged White Tea with Date & Honey Notes

2016 Shou Mei Aged White is a Fujian-grown white tea from old tea trees said to be around 1, 200 years old. It's lovingly crafted from naturally withered upper leaves and tips, then hand-rolled into delightful reddened and browned tea "balls" that slowly unfurl as they steep.

Years of aging have developed a smooth and sweet character in this Shou Mei, with a fruity, enticing aroma. Once steeped, you'll admire the meditative unfurling of the leaves as they release an amber liquor with a sweet Chinese dried date aroma. At first sip, you'll taste a flavor reminiscent of lighter oolong teas, with notes of amber honey and Chinese dates.

Good quali-tea Shout Mei leaf with proper age. Great if you are wanting to try aged teas. Rich dark liquor with crisp honey notes and that good oak aroma.

Amazing quality tea, I've bought it a couple of times and it always brews super nice. Lasts a long time if you're brewing tea ceremony style as well, with my 100ml brewing vessel I was easily getting 10 steeps out of a single ball of tea. Very forward with the date and honey flavor, and quite naturally sweet. If you're looking for something that has that natural intense sweetness and dessert-like flavor, this is a winner. Definitely want to stock up on some more.
