Tie Guan Yin Black Tea – Silky Black Tea from the Iron Goddess Cultivar

Discover a rare sophistication. Famous worldwide as an oolong, the legendary "Iron Goddess of Mercy" (Tie Guan Yin) cultivar reveals a completely different soul when crafted as a fully oxidized black tea. Sourced from Anxi, Fujian — the home of Tie Guan Yin — this Tie Guan Yin Black Tea bridges the floral elegance of oolong with the comforting depth of black tea.

Unlike robust breakfast teas that can be brisk or astringent, Tie Guan Yin Black Tea is renowned for its velvety smoothness. The naturally thick Tie Guan Yin leaf is rich in pectin, creating a tea that's soft, coating and naturally sweet.

Tasting Notes

  • Liquor: brilliant, translucent ruby
  • Flavor: deep, warming caramel, baked sweet potato and red dates
  • Floral: the cultivar's classic orchid note, subtle and floating
  • Texture: velvety, soft and coating
  • Finish: a hint of wildflower honey

Why You'll Love It

  • No bitterness: the unique cultivar gives a silky taste that needs no milk or sugar.
  • Gentle warmth: considered a "warming" tea in Chinese tradition, it's soothing for the stomach.
  • High endurance: unlike standard black teas, these robust leaves keep their flavor through five or more steepings.
  • Rare origin: a black tea from Anxi's famous oolong cultivar.

It's a fascinating tea for oolong lovers curious about black tea, and for black tea drinkers looking for something smoother and more nuanced.

How to Enjoy

Brew it gongfu-style for multiple infusions to discover how its caramel and floral notes evolve, or enjoy it in a teapot as a comforting daily cup. It pairs beautifully with pastries, roasted nuts and dried fruit.

Silky, sweet and wonderfully unique, Tie Guan Yin Black Tea is a true masterpiece from Anxi.

The taste of this tea is amazing. I have never tried this kind of tea. it is very good combination of Wuyi rock tea and black tea, a little bit similar to "First Harvest Wild Red Buds", but stronger and richer.

An outstanding tea, and not easy to find - all the sophistication of a tieguanyin oolong, but with the rich sweetness of a hong cha - smooth and satisfying, with subtle chocolatey notes and a beautiful color and aroma - definitely recommend and will buy more!
