Jin Jun Mei Lapsang Golden Eyebrow – Rare Smoked Wuyi Black Tea

Our premium Jin Jun Mei Lapsang Golden Eyebrow holds the distinction of being one of the world's rarest Lapsang (smoked) Chinese black teas, crafted to incredibly high standards to ensure consistency and fine quality. It combines the prized golden buds of Jin Jun Mei with the gentle, aromatic smokiness of traditional Lapsang.

This tea comes from a rare wild tea variety growing at high altitude in China's Wuyi Mountains. It's picked before Qing Ming (the early-April festival that marks the finest spring harvest), and gathering it is highly labor-intensive — much pride and care go into this fine craft production. The leaves are slender, tightly curled and gold-flecked, and their heady smoked aroma lends the tea an intriguing, mysterious quality.

Tasting Notes

  • Dry leaf: slender, tightly curled, gold-flecked black tips
  • Aroma: heady, refined smoke
  • Liquor: golden, like maple syrup
  • Flavor: rich cocoa, honey, baked goods and molasses
  • Finish: a hint of honeysuckle, with no bitterness whatsoever

Why You'll Love It

This is smoked tea at its most refined. Rather than overpowering, the smoke gently frames a sweet, pastry-like cup of cocoa, honey and molasses. It's a rare, luxurious tea that offers a completely different experience from ordinary Lapsang Souchong.

  • From a rare wild tea variety in the Wuyi Mountains
  • Pre-Qing Ming spring harvest
  • Cocoa, honey and molasses with gentle smoke
  • No bitterness at all

How to Enjoy

For the best tea-drinking experience, we recommend using a gaiwan and enjoying multiple infusions, noticing how the smoke and sweetness evolve with each steep. Enjoy it plain, and pair it with dark chocolate, aged cheese or a quiet moment of reflection.

Rare, refined and utterly unique, Jin Jun Mei Lapsang Golden Eyebrow is a treasure for true tea connoisseurs.

I am a massive fan of Lapsang Souchong, love the smoky flavours and aromas. This however, is NEXT LEVEL! it is somewhat sweet, but not in a bad way, definitely not like a 'herbal tea'. I use if mixed with their decaf pekoe and regular lapsang, is a true deelight!

I am so glad I bought this because it just became my favorite tea. You have to like a smoky things a little since is a little smoky, not like a normal lapsan souchong. Is sweet with a nice balance of Jin Jun Mei and smoke, gives it a taste of chocolate, coffee, prunes, dry fig, caramel, honey... is just a very elegant and balanced tea that just hit the spot for me. Impressed.

Great Lapsang! Between this and the Tarry Superior, I enjoy this one more. The Tarry one is still delicious, and its a bit smokier I find, but the Golden Eyebrow has more nuance to it. Less astringent, and more complexity than the Tarry. Buying this again now.
