Honeyed Golden Needle Wild Black – Rare Wild Purple-Varietal Yunnan Black Tea

Our Honeyed Golden Needle Wild Black is a truly rare and exquisite wild black tea from the high mountains of Yunnan, grown at altitudes over 1, 800 meters. It's crafted from the small-leaf purple tea varietal, known for containing over 300% more anthocyanins than traditional cultivars, and harvested from wild trees aged 100 to 200 years.

This ancient tea yields a strikingly unique needle shape that's uncommon even among Yunnan's most premium teas. The dry leaves exude an immediate orange-blossom sweetness, unfolding into deeper notes of fermented dried plum and finishing with the cool, refreshing breath of wild mint.

Tasting Notes

  • Dry leaf: striking golden needles with orange-blossom sweetness
  • Liquor: deep, glowing gold
  • Flavor: fresh-pressed sugarcane sweetness
  • Texture: smooth and vibrant
  • Finish: long and clean, with lingering honeyed florals and orchid

Why You'll Love It

The wild character of this tea is unmistakable. Its aftertaste is long, clean and deeply satisfying, with a persistent orchid fragrance that remains even after multiple infusions. For connoisseurs seeking an authentic expression of wild, ancient-tree black tea, this is an experience not to be missed — a perfectly balanced interplay of floral, sweet and cooling forest notes.

  • From wild trees 100–200 years old
  • Grown above 1, 800 meters in Yunnan
  • Rare purple tea varietal
  • Sugarcane, honey and orchid notes

How to Enjoy

Brew it gongfu-style in a gaiwan and enjoy many short infusions to explore its evolving sweetness. Savor it plain, and pair it with dark chocolate, dried fruit or a quiet moment of reflection. It makes a remarkable gift for tea connoisseurs.

Rare, wild and beautifully complex, Honeyed Golden Needle is a black tea that lingers long after the last sip.

One of my red favorite teas so far. I love the honey and malty notes. I has a bold rich flavor. This tea also has other benefits to it with the high anthocyanins.

They weren't kidding about the "needle" part, these leaves are extremely thinly rolled, and are quite fragile. The tea has a lot of that "wild tree" flavour, but it isn't overbearing. It leads with a bark-y cinnamon note, and has a honey-like aftertaste. Pretty solid choice if you like wild tree teas.

There is no way to describe the tea - it is indescribable when I had it made that early crispy snow morning and few sips later I was in the bamboo forests in Yunnan(spiritually) near the ancient trees and there it was the whisper of the tea farmers.....who were planting these little shrubs.....hundred of years ago..... and today I had the product of their labour in front of me.
I was sipping it holding the cup with my two hands and my entire heart and soul were full of gratitude.
Thank you ????????!!!!!!

Awesome tasting black tea. Has a naturally sweet taste. It almost tastes like malted grains!
